A thesis, step by step

From your supervisor's file to the results chapter

  1. Open your supervisor's file

SPSS .sav and .zsav files open with their value labels, missing-value codes and measurement levels intact. Stata, SAS, Excel, CSV and Parquet open too.

  2. Pick the right test

Describe your question and design; the Statistics Coach suggests the analysis and explains why, with case studies and plain-language help for each procedure.

  3. Check the assumptions

Normality, equal variances and outliers are tested for you, with the right alternative when one fails, such as Welch's ANOVA or a non-parametric test.

  4. Write it up in APA 7

Tables in APA 7 style and a drafted results paragraph go straight into Word, each number tied to its table.

  5. Show your working

Every dialog becomes syntax in the journal, so your supervisor or examiner can re-run the whole analysis.

Student questions

How do I get the student price?

Sign up, then request the discount from your account with your university email, institution and course. We review each request by hand and email you a code for Pro Personal, monthly.

How much is it?

60% off Pro Personal monthly, which makes it $24 a month for as long as you stay subscribed. You can try everything free for 14 days first, with no card.

Will it open my supervisor's SPSS files?

Yes. OrcStat reads and writes .sav and .zsav, reads .por, and runs a large subset of SPSS-style syntax; the copilot converts the rest.

Does it run on a Mac?

Yes, on macOS 13 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. The browser version works on any computer for smaller datasets.

What happens when I graduate?

Your projects and data stay yours. If you stop subscribing, OrcStat switches to read-only mode: you can still open, view and export everything.
